How we use cookies and similar technologies on our platform.
Last updated: April 4, 2026
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, provide information to site owners, and improve the user experience.
Cookies can be "first-party" (set by Zaminor) or "third-party" (set by external services we use). They can be "session cookies" (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).
Our use of cookies is governed by: the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet (Article 11.7a), which implements the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC as amended by 2009/136/EC); and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the processing of personal data collected through cookies.
Under these laws, we are required to: obtain your explicit, informed, and freely given consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device; provide clear information about each cookie's purpose, type, and duration; ensure you can withdraw consent as easily as you gave it; and treat cookie consent preferences as personal data. Strictly necessary cookies (essential for the Platform to function) do not require consent under Article 11.7a(3) of the Telecommunicatiewet.
We use the following categories of cookies:
These cookies are essential for the Platform to function properly. They enable core features such as authentication, session management, security (CSRF protection), and accessibility. These cookies cannot be disabled as the Platform would not function without them.
**Legal basis:** No consent required. These cookies are exempt under Dutch Telecommunicatiewet Article 11.7a(3) as they are strictly necessary for the service explicitly requested by the user.
We use Umami, a self-hosted, privacy-first analytics solution. Umami is cookieless and does not place any cookies on your device. It does not collect personal data, does not create individual user profiles, and does not track users across websites.
Because Umami does not use cookies or process personal data, no consent is required under the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet or the GDPR.
**Legal basis:** No consent required. Umami operates without cookies and without processing personal data.
Zaminor does not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. Should this change in the future, this policy will be updated and your consent will be requested before any marketing cookies are placed.
If marketing cookies are introduced, they will only be placed after you provide explicit consent via our cookie banner.
**Legal basis:** Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Marketing cookies, if introduced, will only be placed after you provide explicit consent. Rejecting marketing cookies does not affect your access to the Platform.
You have full control over your cookie preferences. We provide equal prominence to "Accept" and "Reject" options and do not use cookie walls or dark patterns:
**Cookie banner:** When you first visit the Platform, a cookie banner allows you to accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or customize your preferences by category (analytics, marketing). The banner provides granular control per purpose.
**Cookie settings:** You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the website footer. Changes take effect immediately.
**Browser settings:** You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may impair Platform functionality.
- **Chrome:** Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies - **Firefox:** Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data - **Safari:** Preferences > Privacy > Cookies - **Edge:** Settings > Cookies and site permissions
**Do Not Track (DNT):** We respect Do Not Track browser signals. When DNT is enabled, no analytics or marketing cookies will be placed.
**Global Privacy Control (GPC):** We respect the Global Privacy Control signal. When GPC is detected, we treat it as a valid opt-out of non-essential cookies and data sharing for targeted advertising.
In addition to cookies, we use browser local storage to:
- Store your authentication state (logged in/out) - Save temporary form data to prevent loss during navigation - Cache user preferences (theme, layout) for faster page loads - Store your cookie consent decision locally for immediate enforcement
Local storage data is stored only in your browser and is not transmitted to our servers with each request. You can clear local storage through your browser's developer tools or settings. The same legal framework that applies to cookies (Telecommunicatiewet Article 11.7a) applies to local storage where it is used to store or access information on your device.
Zaminor currently does not use third-party cookies. Our analytics solution (Umami) is self-hosted and does not place cookies. Should third-party services be introduced in the future, this section will be updated accordingly.
We regularly audit our Platform to ensure no unauthorized third-party cookies are present and that all tracking complies with our standards and applicable law.
Any future third-party cookies will only be loaded after you have given explicit consent for the relevant category.
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices, new technologies, or legal requirements. Material changes (new cookie categories, new third-party providers) will be communicated via the cookie banner, which will reappear to request updated consent. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
